Projectile Motion

What is projectile motion?

A projectile motion is a form of motion which an object is thrown in the air just like as if it was a basketball game.

What are the three parts of PM?
  1. Angle of release - optimal AoR can vary, but in theory is 45 degrees.
  2. Height of release - The greater of the height of release, the greater the distances.
  3. Speed of release - The greater the speed, the greater the height and distances.

Explain the activity this morning related to projectile motion.

What we did to show projectile motion was we planted hula hoops around the class and got rubber bands, and we used paper for an object. So what we did was we flicked the paper with the rubber band and made it go in the air just like projectile motion but with paper and rubber band.

Levers

Levers (1, 2, 3)
1. Explain levers in a sport.
When you go to play a sport like basketball it is a good example because it is similar to the third class lever, which is your shoulder is the fulcrum and your muscles is the effort and basketball is the load.

2. Explain levers the activity we did today.
What we did today was we were given a task about the first, second and the third lever are used. What we today in class was we had to cut out shapes  of the lever and placed them on the piece of paper to explain what they do. After that we had to explain what the levers did.

  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria)
  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation).
A - I think achieve because after we always play I like to reflect on my own performance.

M - I think merit because when we play I like going all out and also try and do my best as we participate.

M - I think merit because  when we play an activity I like to show enjoyment of the intents of the activity.

  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples)
Challenge - My challenging influence me by making play harder also making me improve by doing my challenges independents. My participation went up because as I was doing my challenge it was helping me improve also making me feel good participating with others.

Classmates - My classmates influence me by making me have a good fun also making me to get others to team up and try and beat others. My participation went up because my classmates help me by masking me have fun with others.

Fitness - My fitness influence me by making me run a lot also made me run for long. My participation went up because my fitness help me by getting fit and also by getting me better at running around a lot.

How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future?

I could increase this game in the future by asking my classmate if he wants to play, and if he does not want to then I can ask them for and suggesten to add into the game or make up our own rules.

The game we played today was ki o rahi and what we did was we got into two teams and one team was called taniwha and the other one was called kioma, both teams had different ways to try and score a point, taniwha could only score by throwing the ball out in the second circle, and the other team called kioma could score by going in the middle circle and just place it on the ground for the point.

  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria)
M- I think i'm in merit because every time my team gets the ball I always try and get a point also try and do my best.

A - I think achieve because every time when it is time for p.e I am always organised and also ready for what activity we are about to participate in.

  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation).
  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples)
Challenge - My challenge influenced me by making me go forward also go all out and try and play non stop until there is a brake. My participation went up because at the same time I was really having fun and also it was making me go good during the activity.

Fitness - My fitness influenced me by making me try and run non stop only because I really want to get fit. My participation went down because as I was going forward I was getting really sore only because I was really tired and I also felt like I did too much.

Classmates - My classmates influence me by encouraging me to do better and also making feel like I really want to play. My participation went up because my classmates were really good helping me during the activity we were participation in.

How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future?

I can increase this activity in the future by asking my peers if they want to play, but if they do refuse I will tell them the rules of the game and ask them if they want to add some of their own suggestion into the activity.

Newtons Laws

Who is Sir Isaac Newton?

Sir Isaac Newton is a man that was born December 25 1642. He was a man that was interested in how and why things move and he also wanted to found out how.

Explain the 3 Laws

The law of inertia - The first law is that if there is a object that is still like a ball, it won't move until other object forces upon it.

The law of acceleration - The second law is that if there was a heavier ball which is still and you get a harder ball and hit it it will then make a bigger and faster acceleration.

The law of Action/Reaction - The law of action and reaction is that if you would to throw a ball against the wall all it will do is just bounce back.

Inertia Ball

The game that we were playing was called inertia ball, during the game the 3 laws were included, the way we showed the laws was when we had to throw different sizes and weighted balls against a big blue bouncy ball. The first law was shown when the` ball was hit from the other team which made the ball go in a different direction and it went fast. The second law was shown when someone throw the basketball and it made the ball go even faster than when you throw a lighter ball such as the tennis ball. The last law was shown by when someone went to trow the ball (that was the action) and the ball that was thrown rebounded and came back to my team. (reaction)

Balance and Stability

  • What are the three parts of balance and stability?
The three parts of balance and stability are centre of gravity, line of gravity, base of support.
  • How can someone increase their balance and/or stability?
By spreading your legs, like basically widening your base of support. Also you can increase it by lowering your body. And also make sure the line of gravity is inside the base of support.
  • Describe your task from the start of the poses to the end of the Slides. Talk about what you enjoyed and what you found difficult.
What I enjoyed the most was when we had to try out a pose but with my own class mate, and what I found difficult was when I was trying to do a pose but it was really hard because the one we were doing as a group was really hard. And also today I learned that by spreading yours legs your base of support widens.
